Trees or large shrubs. Leaves pinnately compound, alternate; stipules absent. Flowers regular, bisexual, in axillary cymo-panicles. Calyx 4–6-lobed. Petals 4–6. Stamens hypogynous, as many as or twice as many as the petals; filaments connate into a tube or free. Ovary 3–5-locular, superior, often surrounded by an annular disc; style simple; placentas axile. Fruit drupaceous or a capsule. 52 gen., mostly trop.
