Tufted annual. Rhizome absent or very short. Spike whitish or very pale green, ovoid to oblong-cylindrical, 6–12 mm long, often with 2 smaller ones at its base. Nut finally black. Culms up to 30 cm high. Widespread. Grasslands. Introduced status uncertain. Cyperus sesquiflorus
