Basal leaves up to 6 cm long, cuneate, toothed or pinnatifid, sessile, up to 25 mm long. Involucre hemispherical, 3–6 mm diam.; bracts numerous, 2–3 mm long. Ray florets numerous; rays c. 3 mm long, yellow. Cypselas flattened, minutely tuberculate, c. 1.5 mm long. Widespread. Open forests and grasslands on heavy clay soils. Fl. all the year. Leaves up to 18 cm long, linear to elliptic, toothed, pinnatifid or pinnatipartite; cauline leaves sessile, entire or toothed. Involucre hemispherical, 6–10 mm diam.; bracts numerous, up to 5 mm long, elliptic, acuminate. Rays white or mauve. Cypselas reddish-brown, 3–4 mm long, broad, cuneate, flattened.
