Major pappus awns 5–6, up to 4 mm long; secondary awns when present, c. 1 mm long, hairy. Leaves up to 18 cm long, linear to elliptic, toothed, pinnatifid or pinnatipartite; cauline leaves sessile, entire or toothed. Involucre hemispherical, 6–10 mm diam.; bracts numerous, up to 5 mm long, elliptic, acuminate. Rays white or mauve. Cypselas reddish-brown, 3–4 mm long, broad, cuneate, flattened. Stoloniferous, hairy perennial up to 40 cm high. Blue Mts Open forests and grasslands, often on heavy clay soils. Fl. most of the year
