Leaves rusty-tomentose underneath at least when young, ovate- to oblong-elliptic, 4–10 cm long; margins slightly revolute. Petals yellow, c. 12 mm long. Capsule oblong, rough, orange. Seeds bright red. Shrub up to 3 m high. Widespread. Forests. Fl. spring
