Nut longitudinally striate, tuberculate, external cells transversely elongated in 8–10 rows, finally dark, c. half as long as the glume. Glume 1–3 nerved on each side, slightly recurved near the apex and produced into a short point, white to pale brown. Coast. Banks of creeks and drains, sometimes in sheltered lawns
