Perennial with underground bulbs. Leaves basal, linear, terete at base, becoming flattened above, up to 35 mm long, 2–4 mm wide. Flowers solitary on erect stems c. 25 cm long. Perianth segments 30–50 mm long, white sometimes tinged with pink, free. Stamens 6, equal. Style with three stigmatic lobes. Fruit a capsule. Coast, e.g. Berry. Damp grasslands
