Erect herbs up to 30 cm high, dioecious polygamous or hermaphrodite, with corms. Leaves 3, linear, up to 30 cm long; upper ones broader and shorter. Flowers in monochasial cymes of up to 10 flowers. Perianth segments 6, white, with a purplish swollen band or two pinkish nectaries near the base, persistent but not spirally twisted after flowering. Stamens 6. Ovary 3-locular, with numerous ovules per loculus. Fruit a capsule.
