Wilkiea huegeliana (Tul.) A.DC.

Shrub or small tree. Leaves ovate-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, rigid, 4–16 cm long, sharply and irregularly toothed or almost entire; venation strongly reticulate on both surfaces but raised on undersurface. Flowers small, unisexual, in short axillary racemes and panicles. Floral tube nearly globular, c. 2 mm diam., with a small orifice. Female floral tube circumciss after flowering, enlarged to form a disc. Fruiting carpels ovoid, black, c. 12 mm long, seated upon the enlarged floral tube. Coast and adjacent plateaus. RF.
