Wikstroemia indica (L.) C.A.Meyer

Shrub up to 1.5 m high. Leaves mostly opposite, ovate to oblong or lanceolate, paler underneath, rather thin, glabrous, c. 3 cm long. Flowers in few-flowered terminal heads sometimes growing out into short spikes, bisexual, erect or slightly recurved. Floral tube cylindrical, shortly 4-lobed, greenish yellow, c. 8 mm long. Petals rudimentary. Stamens 8. Fruit a red drupe, 5–8 mm long. Coast and adjacent plateaus. RF margins; coastal headlands and other places near the sea
