Leaves opposite and linear may become alternate towards top of stem; sessile, 4–60 mm long, 1–4 mm wide. Capsule at least 3 times as long as broad. Leaf margins entire or with a few small teeth. Flowers blue inside whitish outside often with a yellow/brown ting. Corolla lobes acute 6–14 mm long, tube 2–5 mm long. Capsule 5–12 mm long, glabrous. Herb with stems to 80 cm long.
