Anterior petal obovate, broadest in the top third; obscurely three-nerved, central nerves anastomising; 8–10 mm long with a small green patch at base, middle section violet indistinctly separated from white tip. Lateral petals bearded inside or beard absent. Mature leaves ± semicircular; margins with obscure teeth. Seed dull brown and cream. Perennial stoloniferous herb. Stems contracted, leaves forming rosettes. Widespread. Coast and ranges. Dry to moist sites. Fl. spring–summer. Ivy-leaved Violet
