Herbs with a basal rosette of leaves and erect stems with alternate cauline leaves. Flowers in terminal racemes or panicles, often with several flowers in the axil of each bract. Calyx deeply 5-lobed. Corolla yellow, sometimes with purplish markings, rotate, 4-lobed, almost regular. Stamens 4–5. Fruit a capsule.
