Typhonium Schott

Perennial, erect, glabrous herbs with a tuberous rhizome. Leaves all basal, 3-lobed to deeply hastate; the small veins between the secondaries reticulate. Peduncle shorter than the petioles. Spathe constricted above the ovoid base; the lamina lanceolate to narrow-lanceolate, greenish outside, deep purplish inside. Spadix with a sterile terminal appendage. Female flowers at the base followed by sterile flowers, a bare interval, and male flowers. Fruit a berry.
