Glabrous trees or shrubs with ± flaky bark. Leaves opposite, obovate to lanceolate, acuminate, entire. Flowers solitary or arranged in axillary cymes. Floral tube shortly continued above the ovary. Sepals 4, persistent or irregularly deciduous. Petals 4, persistent or deciduous, white-pink. Stamens numerous, arranged in several whorls. Ovary 2-locular with 1-several ovules inserted on axile placentas. Fruit a berry, ovate or urceolate, 10–15 mm long.
