*Senecio pterophorus DC.

Lower surface of leaves whitish grey with closely appressed hairs. Bracteoles subtending the involucre 14–20. Leaves decurrent as a wing-like extension on the stem, lanceolate to narrow-elliptic, mostly up to 10 cm long, toothed or rarely entire, whitish underneath. Heads numerous. Involucre campanulate, c. 4 mm diam.; bracts 18–22, c. 5 mm long. Cypselas c. 2 mm long, brown. Shrub up to 1.5 m high. Garden escape in a few places. Introd. from S. Africa. Fl. summer
