Stems glabrous to slightly hairy. Leaves twice pinnatisect, upper surface ± glabrous, lower surface ± sparsely hairy, 10–15 cm long. Heads few to very many (50–200), in a terminal corymb. Involucre 5–7 mm long, bracts 8–10. Florets 15–25. Fruiting head 2.5 mm diam., involucre bracts ± reflexed. Cypselas 2 mm long, minutely granular. Pappus 4–5 mm long. Erect herb 1–2 m high. Widespread. Fl. most of the year
