Spreading shrub or tree. Leaves alternate, thin, elliptic or ovate to lanceolate, 10–20 cm long, 4–10 cm wide, acuminate, with a few short teeth in the upper part. Flowers in terminal or axillary corymbose panicles which are irregularly dichotomous and much shorter than the leaves. Disc very short, adnate to the broad base of the ovary. Calyx lobes 5, spreading, deciduous. Petals 5, yellowish, 4 mm long, valvate, deciduous. Stamens 5. Ovary superior, 5-locular. Style 5-lobed. Berry globular, 6–8 mm diam. Widespread. RF. and sheltered gullies. Fl. summer. Native Hydranger
