Secondary veins on lower surface distinct. Leaves lanceolate rarely ovate, 2–8 cm long, 10–20 mm wide, glabrous on the upper surface, densely tomentose underneath. Flowers yellow, in loose terminal panicles. Floral tube and sepals villous, together c. 2 mm long. Shrub up to 2 m high, with rusty-tomentose young shoots. Widespread. Open forest on Ss and shales.
