Leaves narrow-ovate to ovate, 6–13 cm long, irregularly crenate, wrinkled on the upper surface; lower surface with ± evenly spaced stellate hairs and prominent principal veins. Stems and inflorescence densely stellate pubescent. Flowers numerous in large terminal panicles often leafy at the base. Floral tube and sepals together c. 2 mm long. Shrub 1–2 m high. Widespread.
