Aquatic herbs. Leaves floating or on mud, broad-reniform or orbicular, entire or crenate. Flowers on long pedicels arising from weak peduncles, in pairs or clusters. Corolla yellow or white, campanulate or almost rotate, deeply 5-lobed; lobes with broad membranous margins (wings). Ovary 1-locular. Fruit often indehiscent.
