Monotaxis linifolia Benth.

Small, glabrous, monoecious shrub 15–30 cm high, with a thick woody base and numerous thin wiry ascending or diffuse green stems. Leaves opposite or whorled, distant, not numerous, variable, lanceolate to linear or cuneate, 8–18 mm long; stipules very small. Flowers minute, white, in head-like cymes each with c. 12 male flowers and 1 female. Stamens usually twice as many as petals. Ovary 3-locular. Fruit globular. Widespread. Wet sandy soils. Fl. spring–summer
