Procumbent or ascending herb. Leaves sessile, narrow-oblanceolate to almost linear, up to 15 mm long and 5 mm wide, serrate, with narrow acute teeth. Corolla red, slit to the base anteriorly, irregular. All anthers with a tuft of hairs at the apex. Stigmatic lobes filiform. Fruit a capsule, up to 9 mm long and 3 mm diam. Naturalized in places near Sydney. Damp places. Introd. from S. Afric. Fl. spring–summer
