Ascending to decumbent, pubescent, annual herb up to 1.5 m high. Leaves ovate to oblong in outline, pinnate-lobed to deeply serrate. Flowers in few-flowered terminal cymes. Calyx deeply 5-lobed. Corolla yellow, c. 2 cm diam.; lobes acute-acuminate. Stamens connivent and coherent in a cone around the style. Fruit a large red berry. Garden escape near habitation and on rubbish tips.
