*Lychnis coronaria (L.) Desr.

Erect perennial covered with a silky, silvery tomentum. Leaves oblong to lanceolate, 3–10 cm long. Flowers in cymes on long pedicels. Calyx 18 mm long, oblong, with 10 ribs. Petals red, entire, with a long claw and spreading lamina. Capsule opening by 5 teeth. Garden escape in some suburbs. Introd. from Europe and W. Asia. Fl. summer. Rose Campion
