Flowers in dense spikes mostly shorter than or equal to the leaves. Leaves oblanceolate to lanceolate, mostly 1–3 cm long, paler underneath. Fruit white. Erect shrub up to 5 m high but usually much less. Coast. Sandy soils near the sea. Heath. Fl. July–Aug
