Rhizomatous, perennial herb up to 60 cm high. Leaves alternate, simple, dentate or lobed; the lowest ones broad-spathulate, up to 5 cm long. Heads 2–3 together or solitary on leafless peduncles 5–15 cm long. Ray florets c. 18, usually female: rays white, 1–2 cm long. Disc florets yellow. Cypselas 1 mm long, with ± mucilaginous ribs. Pappus an irregular rim. Higher Blue Mts Weed in pastures. Introd. from Europe. Fl. summer. Ox-eye Daisy
