35 species endemic Aust.; Qld. NSW Vic. Tas. SA, WAErect shrubs 1–3 m high. Leaves pinnately or ternately divided and subdivided or simple and entire (Fig. 31). Flowers in dense terminal globular spikes, each flower sessile within a bract. Bracts tomentose outside, deciduous with the fruit. Perianth yellow, with a slender tube; segments equally spreading. Anthers sessile. Ovary sessile. Style filiform; pollen presenter below stigma, club-shaped. Fruiting structure ‘cones’, globose. Fruit an achene, shorter than the bracts, hirsute.
