Stipes brown or orange-brown or deep yellow but dark brown near the base. Main rhachis light brown or bright golden yellow or orange-red, with scattered, brown or orange-brown tubercles. Hairs of the costae and costules with opaque lumina. Rhizome 3–8 mm diam. Plants up to 3 m high. Widespread. Mountain RF and RF margins
