Annual herb up to 2 m high. Lower leaves opposite, ovate to obovate, up to 10 cm long, toothed, sessile and stem-clasping. Heads c. 15 mm diam. Involucral bracts in 2 rows. Ray florets female; rays yellow, 10–15 mm long, 3-lobed. Cypselas 3–4-angled. Pappus absent. Weed near Sydney. Introd. from E. Africa. Fl. winter. Rantil
