Gomphocarpus R.Br.

Erect, somewhat herbaceous shrubs with pubescent branches. Flowers white, in loose umbels. Corolla deeply divided; the lobes reflexed. Corona segments compressed, the outer edge lower than the inner which terminates in 2 teeth. Follicle large, inflated, covered with soft green spines. Seeds with a long white coma.
