Small, monoecious tree. Leaves distichous, elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, ± acuminate, 5–10 cm long; stipules present. Flowers axillary. Perianth segments 6, sepaloid. Male flowers c. 3 mm diam., several together on slender peduncles 4–6 mm long; stamens 3, with connate filaments; glands absent. Female flowers solitary on short erect pedicels; ovary 5–7-locular; styles 5–7, connate basally, thick, erect. Fruit much depressed in the centre, greenish, 12–19 mm diam. Coast and adjacent plateaus. In and near RF; sheltered gullies. Cheese Tree.
