Decumbent, perennial herb up to 50 cm high. Leaves cauline, elliptic to narrow-oblanceolate, pinnatisect, up to 10 cm long and 50 mm wide, white tomentose underneath. Heads solitary on axillary peduncles up to 20 cm long. Involucre 10–15 mm diam.; bracts in 2–3 rows. Ray florets in 1 row, neuter; rays orange to yellow, usually black towards the base with or without a white dot, 30–50 mm long. Disc florets tubular, bisexual, orange to yellow. Cypselas hairy, c. 5 mm long. Pappus of scales. Coast. Roadsides and coastal dunes. Introd. from S. Africa. Fl. most of the year
