*Gamochaeta pensylvanica (Willd.) Cabrera

Heads almost hidden amongst woolly hairs, with 3–4 subtending leafy bracts, in terminal spikes. Leaves darker and with fewer hairs on the upper surface, oblanceolate to spathulate, with obtuse mucronate tips, 25–80 mm long, 4–18 mm wide. Involucre 3–4 mm diam.; bracts green to straw-coloured. Procumbent to erect, woolly annual up to 50 cm high. Coast. Open forests on sandy soils. Introd. from America. Fl. spring
