Cauline leaves oblong to elliptic, sessile, fleshy, different in shape and colour from leaves on fertile stems. Leaves crowded 5–20 mm long. Fertile stem leaves circular to rhombic. Cyathia solitary. Involucral glands 4 each with 2 horn-like projections. Erect, glabrous, perennial herb to 70 cm high. Occasionally naturalized. Introd. from Europe. Sea spurge
