Small or large trees. Leaves usually serrate, strongly reticulate. Flowers regular, bisexual, in axillary often one-sided racemes. Sepals 4–5, usually valvate. Petals as many as the sepals, white or pink, fringed lobed or entire, inserted around the base of the disc. Stamens numerous, inserted within the disc. Ovary superior, 2–5-locular. Fruit drupaceous.
