Four stamens long and exserted. Corolla blue, 12– 15 mm long. Cymes short and dense. Leaves rough, harsh; basal leaves oblanceolate, up to 15 cm long, without prominent lateral veins; cauline leaves rounded at the base. Coarse annual up to 1 m high. Widespread. Weed of pastures and waste places. Introd. from Europe. Fl. spring–summer. Viper’s Bugloss
