Prostrate perennial rooting at the nodes, with short erect leafy branches. Leaves opposite, succulent, triangular in cross section, 5–8 mm long, pubescent with coarse hyaline vescicular hairs. Flowers solitary, terminal on the short branches. Petaloid staminodes linear, c. 6 mm long, rose pink. Styles 5. Fruit a soft capsule. Garden escape on sandy soils. Introd. from S. Africa
