Spreading, spiny, rigid shrub to 2 m high. Spines and stems green. Leaves small 3–15 mm long, falling early. Stipules red-brown, 1.5–3 mm long. Flowers white, in clusters of 10–50 at base of spines. Pedicels 5–10 mm long. Ovary inferior; disc prominent. Carpels 3; style minute. Stamens subequal to petals. Capsule prominently 3-lobed; 4–5 mm diam. Rocky situations in DSF.
