Annual herb up to 1.5 m high. Leaves ovate to narrow-ovate, alternate, often with a basal rosette, up to 30 cm long, pubescent on the upper surface and almost tomentose underneath; petiole winged. Flowers in a terminal raceme. Calyx deeply 5-lobed. Corolla tubular, narrowing abruptly near the base, 3–4.5 cm long, white to purplish pink with dark purple spots. Stamens 4. Fruit a capsule.
