Spreading tree c. 10 m high. Leaves pinnate-compound, with c. 6 leaflets; leaflets elliptic, 4–7 mm long, 3–4 mm wide, entire, glabrous, emarginate. Flowers unisexual, in lateral racemes c. 9 cm long. Sepals reddish, c. 2 mm long. Petals absent. Stamens 5. Legume 10–25 cm long, thick, compressed. Naturalized near Joorilands on the Wollondilly River. Hillsides. Introd. from the Mediterranean. Fl. summer–autumn. Carob
