Utricle black at maturity, base without basal thickening, ellipsoid c. 1.5 mm diam., beak 0.3 mm long, apex notched. Inflorescence to 12 cm high. Leaves shorter than to equaling culms with retrorse marginal prickles, (may be antrorse towards apex). Herb with slender tufts spread loosely along a rhizome. Blue Mts Grassy woodland and forests
