Scrambling shrub with densely tomentose young branches. Leaves opposite, margins entire, crenate or toothed. Stipules interpetiolar. Flowers numerous in terminal or axillary, panicles or spike-like. Sepals and petals connate, 4-merous. Stamens inserted on corolla tube. Fruit a capsule or berry. Seed numerous often winged.
