Trees or shrubs with pubescent young branches. Leaves ovate to lanceolate, opposite. Flowers arranged in cymes. Floral tube campanulate, continued well above the ovary. Sepals 4–5, c. 9 mm long at fruiting stage, petaloid, greenish or whitish, persistent. Petals ± persistent. Stamens numerous, free, arranged in several whorls. Ovary 2-locular. Fruit dry, often schizocarpic, crowned by the persistent calyx. Widespread. Margins of RF and gullies. Fl. summer. Grey Myrtle
