*Axonopus fissifolius (Raddi) Kuhlm.

Spikelets with 1 bisexual floret and a sterile lemma below it, sessile or subsessile, awnless, 2 mm long, alternate in 2 rows on one side of a 3-angled rhachis. Glume 1, similar to the sterile lemma. Inflorescence branched into 2, 3 or 4 spike-like racemes each 5–8 cm long. Stoloniferous perennial forming a mat. Leaf blades 3–5 cm long, 5–6 mm wide; ligule hyaline. Coast. Weed; sandy soils; roadsides. Introd. from West Indies. Narrow-leaved Carpet Grass
