Central awn exceeding the lateral lobes by 6–9 mm. Tufted perennial 75–120 cm high. Panicle linear-lanceolate, 9–18 cm long. Spikelets many, with c. 3 florets. Glumes 14–18 mm long, distinctly longer than the florets. Blue Mts Open forests on sandstone hillsides. Fl. spring–summer
