Erect herbs. Leaves basal, linear, flat. Flowers 2–3 together or solitary on each pedicel, arranged in panicles. Perianth segments free, purplish white, spreading, persistent, not spirally twisted after flowering. Stamens 6; filaments bearded. Ovary 3-locular; style simple. Fruit a capsule.
