Erect herb to 60 cm high. Basal leaves up to 15 cm long and 15 mm wide. Cauline leaves shorter; margins dentate. Inflorescence terminal, flowers sessile. Sepals connate at base, 3.5–5 mm long, lengthening to 8 mm in fruiting stage. Corolla blue or white, tube curved, lobes unequal. Stamens inserted half way along tube. Fruit ovoid 1.5–2 mm long. Weed of disturbed areas. Introd., from Europe. Blue Mts Fl. winter. Wild Bugloss
