Coarse herb up to 5 m high. Leaves succulent, fibrous, glaucous, up to 1.5 m long, Usually more than 15 cm wide; margins with large spines. Inflorescence a spreading loose panicle on a scape up to 5 m long. Perianth segments white or yellowish. Stamens much longer than the perianth segments. Ovary with a short beak.
