Glabrous shrub or small tree up to 4 m high with aerating knee-roots. Leaves obovate, very obtuse, 4–7 cm long, coriaceous. Flowers in umbels which are terminal or in the upper axils. Calyx 5-lobed; lobes stiff and much imbricate, 4–6 mm long. Corolla tube not exceeding the calyx; lobes about the same length, spreading or reflexed, very acute, white.
